Skrake baldness
More actions
Skrake baldness is a physical trait endemic to certain families in Karinia. It is named for its prevalence among members of the Skrake kadrike.
Description
Skrake baldness is a genetic trait typically passed down from male carriers. It rarely affects females, though women can still carry the trait and pass it down to their children. Skrake baldness manifests initially as thinning of the hair at the top of the head, which eventually forms a bald spot. The rest of the hair will continue to thin as an individual ages, and the hairline recedes.
History
Skrake baldness is presumed to have existed for as long as Karinians have populated the Karin Plain. However, its name was first given in 42 TT, when a newspaper commented on the identical bald spots present on the heads of Chakotaim, Mokai, and Morark Skrake (son, father, and grandfather respectively). When Chakotaim's son Manchur came of age, he also possessed the bald spot. The baldness has been associated with the Skrake since. Modern members who are not bald by genetics will sometimes shave parts of their head to show allegiance to the Skrake. Skrake baldness prevents most modern members of the Skrake from wearing Skrake hats.
Skrake baldness is the cause behind a long-standing feud between the Skrake and the Bokok, the latter of whom are known for their luscious hair.
