Biography

Early life

Arkerus Perat was born in Orak on 17-6 97 TT. His branch of the Perat had lived in the town since his grandfather Andokai Perat was named Warden of Orak in 127 TT. Arkerus's father, Khobak Perat, became Warden of Orak in 87 TT.

Arkerus was not close with his father and was uninterested in the affairs of the Perat as a whole. He spent much of his free time socialising with the people of Orak.

His father was elected Living King on 27-9 72 TT. Khobak attempted to make Arkerus his representative to the Arkara, but the idea of living among the supposedly ultra-pious Arkara displeased Arkerus. He brought this up with his father but he was unmoved, going as far as to claim that he would have his forces drag him to Agrada if he resisted. This led Arkerus to flee Orak, leaving behind his wife Dotoi Ikane and his son Storm Perat. He fled to the Deram–Perat border and was let through by claiming he had been sent by Leader of the Perat, Alobak Perat.

Years in the Deram Kadrike

The Deram had been politically isolated from Karinian politics since 564 TT and their Kadrike was beyond the authority of the Living King, making it a good place to hide from him. Arkerus made it to the mining settlement of Dakota where he reported himself to the authorities there. He was brought to the Deram's capital Dokraim and met with Baktako Deram, Leader of the Deram. Baktako found the idea of a son of the Living King fleeing to the Deram Kadrike entertaining and understood there were potential political benefits to this. He promised Arkerus that he would have his protection within the Deram Kadrike and set aside a home for him in the city. Though Arkerus rarely spoke with Baktako he became fast friends with Akan Deram, Warden of the Andu, later marrying his sister Dalatoi Deram. Akan taught Arkerus a great deal about fighting and warfare and Arkerus led forces under Akan in battle against the Dosso Dur.

Return to the Karin Plain

Arkerus Perat learned of Alandok Perat, Leader of the Perat's death on 20-11 53 TT, whilst at an event hosted by Baktako Deram. After their first meeting, Baktako had begun researching Perat Law and found that duels for leadership based on the right of blood had been banned, save for those brought on by a child of a Living King against someone who was not the child of a Living King. Baktako and Akan talked Arkerus into leaving for Perisken to dispute the Perat leadership. A truck was quickly prepared for Arkerus and before the end of the night he and his three children, Tikerus, Alaok and Tradei Perat, were on their way to Perisken (Dalatoi remained in Dokraim). They arrived at a border post shortly after midnight and found it to be deserted with the staff having gone to Perisken for the funeral. The group arrived at the funeral in the morning of 21-11. They made it clear that they were Perat but not exactly who they were, with other guests assuming that they were far-flung cousins from outside of the Kadrike. On 23-11 Anotok Perat proclaimed himself Leader of the Perat, at which point Arkerus revealed who he was and challenged Anotok under the right of blood. Anotok who recognised Arkerus's face and did not question who he was accepted the challenge. Arkerus won the duel by knocking Anotok to the ground until he gave up. Arkerus was proclaimed Leader of the Perat.

Conflict with the 3rd Agrada Perikat

The 3rd Agrada Perikat, who had ruled the Kingdom of Akaria since the election of Living King Bantu Arkara in 143 TT were not happy with Arkerus's takeover of the Perat. Arkerus had spent a long time among the Deram who the 3rd Agrada Perikat viewed as one of their chief enemies (their opposition to the Deram was the reason why they existed). Eilok's Drodal was secretly established by Khobak Perat and Eilok Arkara to assassinate Arkerus.

False War

On 5-12 10 TT Arkerus's nephew, Tyshok Perat came to Arkerus with a document he had compiled that connected members of the Arkara to many high-profile deaths across the Karin Plain. The document was released as the Tyshok Report on 9-12 10 TT starting the False War. The Perat captured an Arkara assassin on 29-4 9 TT who named the assassin Arkara-led assassin group as Eilok's Drodal.

Arkerus's son and 2nd in line to the Leadership of the Perat, Drotur Perat was killed in a bombing on 16-7 6 TT along with both of his sons. After the bombing, Arkerus sent Storm into hiding in Orak, where Arkerus still had many contacts.

Arkerus died in a bombing of the Pero Fortress on 4-1 5 TT.
