Trade war and escalation

The Tricade War was precipitated by a trade war between T'vaqi and La Rossa, which began as the result of a T'vaqi embargo on Kalam and subsequent restrictions on Rossan imports (primarily medicine and produce). The aggressive economic policies passed by Grand Magisters Insi Q'so and Loqa Pili increased pre-war tensions, and neither leader backed down when pressured. Eventually, Q'so ordered a group of T'vaqi Coastal Patrol scouting vessels to begin patrolling the waters around Kalam. Though no outward display of hostility was made, the aggression implied by the move strained tensions even further. After an identical TCP fleet was sent to La Rossa, military action was threatened by the House of Light if ships were not withdrawn. The Kalami navy began firing warning shots at TCP vessels, aided by Utlian Amphibious Forces, and Modhes Temple sent naval fleets into T'vaqi waters. The attempts of Grand Magister Adisa Aram to recall TCP ships failed due to the majority created by Q'so and Pili. The Rossan and Kalami navies began capturing TCP ships and taking prisoners.

Tensions reached a boiling point when an Utlian sailor aboard the S1-Liamia class Syetkyrn accidentally launched an explosive shell at the T'vaqi 102ToqaTCPSV while sweeping the deck, capsizing the T'vaqi vessel. This prompted Gmr. Q'so to immediately declare war against the House of Light. La Rossa, Modhes Temple, Utlia, and Kalam followed suit.
