Azzta

Azzta is the god of Azztanism, the primary religion in Utlia, Azzta is said to be a colossal Mor-Crab, who watches over and protects its chosen land, that being Utlia.

Origins

Azzta's origins before landing on Utlia are unknown, the widely believed version is that Utlian explorer, Vyren Kiyrn was the discoverer of the Crater of Azzta and therefore, the only person to ever speak with Azzta in the Maaryn Cave during the Frish Explorations he carried out in 1800 TT. Kiyrn then wrote and distributed "Azztanism" This was his book detailed what he learned and how Azztanists should behave. It popularized Azztanism in the rapidly developing Frish Kingdom, the religion then began to spread to the Eutan Kingdom.

In the book, Kiyrn writes that Azzta was dormant, floating throughout the cosmos when it crashed into Utlia thousands of years prior to human settlement and crawled out of the Crater and settled in a nearby cave (now the Maaryn Cave.) Out of this cave Azzta spawned the national animal of Utlia, the common mor-crab, Azzta then birthed the rest of Utlias' many crab species.

Character

Azzta is believed to be a protector of the Utlian people and the island of Utlia. In Azztanism he is confused by Kiyrns entrance into the Maaryn but still happy to have Kiyrn begin the religion.

Worship

The worship of Azzta takes the form of religious eating and effigy burning mainly. The two prayer forms are done both in the home and at special local shrines.

Impact

The actual date and location of Azztas landing are unknown and up for debate. There are two leading theories behind his impact, the first one being the Yureky-Ut theory and the second being the Central Crash theory.

Yureky-Ut

This theory is the idea that Azzta landed sometime between 100,000 and 250,000 years before the calming, around the same time many scientists believe the first Utlians would begin forming hunter-gatherer groups. The location of the crash in this theory is in the modern settlement of Yureky-Ut, a town close to the Maaryn and located in the Northern Valley of Azznin; the resulting crash would have created the Mers mountain range throughout Mountange and Azznin. This was the leading theory prior to the calming but has since undergone a dip in belief, with the majority of Azztanists and Azz'marin clergy believing in the Central Crash. The Yureky-Ut theory was first written about by Neyern Syeiko, a prominent early Azztanist and theologian.

Central Crash

The Central Crash theory was developed shortly after the calming, in 2 PC as a response to the newly discovered world, this theory posits that Azzta likely could have crashed in the central sea of the archipelago before making his way to Utlia.

Stowaway discovery

In 5 PC a number of tests were done across Utlia by microbiologists, genetic scientists and life scientists. The tests confirmed that somewhere around 15% of Utlias life did not originate from Utlia or any surrounding islands. This has led to the Azztanist idea that when Azzta landed or made his way to Utlia he had a number of stragglers from the cosmos he came from, this bacteria, molecular life, and all that is known to have spawned from it has been classified as Syet-pryen by the Utlian Bureau of Research. Syet-pryen knowledge is still quite limited, with the effects on the original ecosystem and Utlians themselves upon landing still unknown. Despite this, the Utlian government and specifically the National Army believe that syet-pryen can be used in military development, so far the only actual proven use of syet-pryen in technology is the Syetin project, which is said to use bacteria of syet-pryen origin found isolated in a central Mountange cave, the purpose or use of the "un-assimilated" bacteria in the syetin however, is unknown.

There are two kinds of syet-pryen sub-classifications:

- Assimilated: for syet-pryen that have genetically shown to have otherworldly origin but have largely been co-opted by the Utlian ecosystem and is considered normal (Ex: Grylbos, Syneri, the vast majority of syet-pryen)

- Un-assimilated: for syet-pryen that has not become one with the Utlian ecosystem and is still considered volatile or anomalous, in some cases only partial evidence to prove its existence (Ex: bacteria used in Syetin, Obchek)
