Ships of the Caseic Archipelago

The Caseic Archipelago is unusual in that the Brisa Strait, and to a lesser extent Brenjia Bay, provided sea-like conditions, which enabled the development of sea-worthy ships in the archipelago before the Grand Calming. This article discusses 'ships originating from the Caseic Archipelago.

Pre-Calming

Before the Grand Calming, most shipbuilding was concentrated in the Brisa Strait, as the only other navigable bodies of water were the rivers and canals within the island of Casea, for which barges were already sufficient. Ships which traversed the Brisa Strait needed to be strong enough to withstand the rougher currents. The CFS Jiricaya is an example of one such ship. Her prefix "CFS" means "Caseic Federation Ship".

Ships which traversed the Brisa Strait were numerous, and as such given numerical names. The CFS Fromachi II, for example, was originally named the CFS Brisa 567:4, meaning that she was the fourth ship constructed in the Caseic year 567 by the Brisa Shipbuilding Company.

The strength and sturdiness of the ships constructed to cross the Brisa Strait made them ideal for exploring the Attu Archipelago. During the first month after the Grand Calming, the CFS Jiricaya and the CFS Fromachi II were authorised by the First Contact Protocol to explore the newly-calmed seas and find the sources of radio transmissions. These two ships produced Casea's first maps of the coasts of Niueyjar, Nongba, and Utlia. They were also instrumental in the Caseic Federations's contribution to the development and initiation of the Inter-governmental Radio System.

Post-Calming

After the Grand Calming, the development of new ship technologies accelerated. The Greater Nayela Union invested into the Abachi Research Group in Caifra, who developed steam-powered ships; the first of these was the GNUS Abachi, launched in 5 PC. With the accelerating research into ships, and the increasing growth of the ship-building industry of throughout the Caseic Archipelago, the Federal Council began to invest in stronger and larger ships for the Caseic Military, which became known as the Caseic Federation Frigates, indicated by the prefix CFF; the first three of these were the CFF Prefichi, the CFF Wesia, and the CFF Jasfeya.

First Great Attu War

In the First Great Attu War, the Caseic Federation Frigates were used to fire combinatory silicate projectiles over Tietero. The CFF Wesia in particular is the subject of much confusion as conflicting historical records attest to it both having sunk as the impetus to begin the war with Tietero and being used to launch projectiles over Tietero. In 27 PC, the Caseic Federation began investing in the construction of even larger ships, known as the Caseic Federation Destroyers, indicated by the prefix CFD; namely the CFD Cacuminal, the CFD Carnificial, the CFD Righteous.

Post-FGAW Federation ships

In 58 PC, the Federal Council approved the construction of the CFS Buchemi, a large cargo ship.

In 60 PC, the Federal Council approved the construction and deployment of the CFD Branchial, a sub-marine ship for the war against Prefichi.

Prefichian Ships

Ever since it gained independence from the Federation in the First Great Attu War, the Kingdom of Prefichi has invested in building innovative and unusual ships, primarily for its military as a means of counteracting the Federation's development of the Caseic Federation Destroyers. The CFF Prefichi defected to the Kingdom of Prefichi, and she was renamed the PF Exordium. Her prefix "PF" stands for "Prefichian Frigate". King Prebache XV chose the name "Exordium", meaning "Beginning" in the ancient Prefichian language used thousands of years before the Grand Calming, symbolising the beginning of the newly-independent Kingdom of Prefichi. The PF Narratio is a frigate used to transport Prefichian diplomats. It is equipped with tea-making apparatus and a shielded hull.

The PF Partitio and PF Divisio are a set of ships which are designed to split into smaller ships as a means of creating an unexpected numerical advantage in battle. In practice, however, the logistics of managing a fleet of a group of ships which can split and combine proved to be intractable, and little more than a naval novelty.

The PF Confirmatio is the Prefichian Military's first sub-marine ship. It is speculated to be composed from osmium.

The RES Hogralib was the fastest-constructed ship in Caseic history, as it was constructed instantly on 30-12 39 PC.
