Utlian National Army

The Utlian Military, Military of Utlia or Utlian National Army is the armed forces of the Republic of Utlia, it is divided into different branches. The Utlian Military is overseen by Areen Leshen, who is also the Military Advisor in the Upper Cabinet. While not technically a part of the Utlian military itself, the Arznyr wing of the Azz'marin can act as a backup or independent military if need for it arises.

History

The current iteration of the Utlian military was established by Mal Ignis and Yyme Braia after the fall of the Monarchy of Utlia. It replaced the Royal Utlian Army and due to the involvement of the RUA in the revolution, many members of the Royal Army kept their job and rank. In 41 PC Mal Ignis died of old age and was replaced by Areen Leshen.

Equipment

The Utlian Military has broad firearms and equipment used across all branches.

Uniform

All branches have different uniforms that are all united by a light blue outfit and helmet, The National Defense is the exception to this, with an ice white uniform for blending into mainland Utlia. The uniforms were initially developed by Ureste Nnet, a military engineer who defected to the revolutionary side during the Utlian Civil War, the uniform itself is named the Utyek.

Firearms

Firearms are a vital part of the equipment of an Utlian soldier. The primary weapon used by an Utlian soldier is a rifle, most commonly a UT-17R or UT-90. As a backup most soldiers in the UNF also carry a sidearm with them, the choice usually being left up to the soldier themself, popular options include the Syneri revolver, a favorite of sailors, and the LnT23, a lightweight and easy-to-handle pistol mass manufactured post-calm.

the UT-85 was the primary weapon used by revolutionary forces during the Utlian Civil War, leading to it gaining status as a symbol of the republic.

Former firearms

During the Nongban civil war, the Utlian Military used flame-flinging back mounted weapons during the rush to and battle of Hongtongula. These proved to be effective but to dangerous, as most users of the packs would explode or burst into flames upon being met with any amount of force. Lytin Shwyn is a survivor of the experimental Fire Brigade.

Ships

There are 3 classes of ship in the amphibious forces:

Liamia: highest class, named after historic Utlians
Lyre: Lowest class, most common type, named after standard utlian names
Aznin: support vessels, submarines, etc, all ships named after Sojourners

Branches

The military uses separate branches for separate uses, they are the following:

Utlian National Force: the main offensive military in Utlia
Utlian National Defense: The national guard of Utlia
Utlian Amphibious Forces: the Utlian navy
Utlian Mountange Corps: high-ranking special forces group (disbanded for treason in 55 PC)
Syetin Control Force: For Syetin and other experimental projects.

Ranks

While individual soldier ranks do not exist within the National Army, leadership ranks play an important part in chain-of-command. High Overseer has historically overlapped with the now defunct upper-cabinet position of Military Advisor.

Leadership

The Utlian Military is currently headed by Areen Leshen, who also commands the UNF and UND. Areen is responsible for the appointing of generals, including people like Lytin Shwyn. The high overseer position created by Mal has only had two people hold it as of 52 PC, these people are:
