Dar

From Attu Project

The Dar are a Kadrike of Akaria.

History

Joining the Akarinian Confederation

On 29-2 1725 TT Leader of the Dar, Frakot met with the Leader of the Akarinian Confederation Gotiph in Ablesken and had the Dar join the confederation.

Lasken and Bar and the age of Vakari

For a long time, the Dar lived as nomads around the area, which would one day host the city of Bar. On 28-10 1680 TT the Weer Nation made a deal with the Lakar that led to the establishment of Lasken. Some Dar saw this city as a potential threat and wished to devote resources to build a fort to counter it. However, Dorok, Leader of the Dar did not see it as such and ordered no such fortification.

On 15-10 1678 TT Ekank of the Deram Ekank declared himself the Leader of the Akarinian Confederation based on a dream he had and his descent from Kadar. He said that he had been named the Living King was ordered to rule over the Green Pool by the Kings in Brown and supported in the Green Pool by the Kadrikes who descend from Kadar, the first Living King. This was the first known mention of "King in Green", "Kings in Brown", "Living King" and "Kadrike". The Dar were listed as one of these Kadrikes.

This threat of Lasken had not left the minds of some of the Dar, and on 11-6 1677 TT they got together and killed Dorok. At his funeral, those who had killed Dorok insisted that only a descendant of Kadar could lead the Dar, having perhaps been inspired by Ekank's ascension as Living King, and killed any who dared to declare themselves leader who did not match this criterion. At the time there was only one member of the Dar that was a descendant of Kadar, Dorok's son Vakari (and also his daughter Sike but Karinians of this time rarely considered women). Vakari, however, was only 19 at the time, below the Karinian age of adulthood of 20. As such those who had killed Dorok created the Council of Bar to rule in Vakari's name until he came of age. The first order from the Council of Bar was to establish a fortification called Bar, so named to hide its military purpose. Despite saying they'd only rule for Vakari until he came of age they ended up ruling until his death 120 years later.

1st Durantum Perikat

Karkon Deram became Living King on 17-2 1604 TT. He wanted the Akarinian Confederation to have their own standing army and to make such an army he needed funding. A deal was made between Karkon and the Dar, Ikane, Kakay, Perat and Skrake they would allow their people to be taxed and in exchange, they as a group would decide on the next Living King. On 19-9 1602 TT Karkon Deram issued Karkon's 5th Dictate which began taxing members of his perikat.

Bark Dar became Living King on 16-3 1475 TT. By this time the Akarinian Confederation was in a disorganised state with the Marauder Crisis in full swing. The Kadrikes that remained outside of warlord control no longer recognized the authority of the Living King and the Confederation. Only the lands of the Deram which surrounded Ablesken remained under the Living King's control. On 28-9, 1471 TT the Komur Feyak, a warlord group led by Temur Bokok, advanced into the Deram lands. Temur's forces were not driven off by the Living Army as others had been and reached the Tumak Ordok on 7-10 1471 TT. Temur confronted Bark in the Tumak Ordok and challenged him for his leadership of the Dar under the right of blood. Temur's claim was based on the fact that one of his wives was a granddaughter of Bark. As the challenge was not made during a leadership change Tumak was not bound by tradition to accept it. However, the vast army surrounding the ordok compelled him to accept the challenge. The elderly Bark was killed during the duel by the still-youthful Temur who declared himself Temur Bokok and Dar. Shortly after the three ossbosches Temur had brought with him declared him Living King.

1st Bar Perikat

Temur Bokok and Dar declared the start of the 1st Bar Perikat, chosing to name it after the Dar's capital to cement his legitimacy as Leader of the Dar. by the end of the year the perikat contained the Bokok, Dar, Lakar, and Perat. On 17-4 1468 TT, Temur issued his 1st Dictate merging the Komur Feyak into the Living Army. Following the merger, a campaign against the Feyaks began, known as the Temur's March. By 1450 TT it had become apparent that Temur's March had not been as effective as Temur had hoped. Though most of the Kadrikes and the Weer Nation recognised him as Living King many of the Feyaks were still at large. On 30-6 1450 TT Temur assembled the leaders of the Kadrikes and representatives from the Weer Nation in Ablesken. On 11-7 1450 TT with the support of the various assembled people he issued Temur's 6th Dictate. The dictate established a nationwide tax dedicated to maintaining the Living Army. Payment of the tax could be opted out of if the corresponding Kadrike maintained armed forces of their own. This brought a gradual end to the Marauder Crisis.

The 1st Bar Perikat ended on 1419 TT with the ascension of Dakarkon Deram and the start of the 2nd Durantum Perikat.

5th Durantum Perikat

During the reign of Living King Khurel Kakay, the former members of the 4th Durantum Perikat –the Bokok, Deram and Perat– created a new alliance between themselves and the Dar, Garvak and Lakar. Khurel's death on 15-2 602 TT triggered the 21st Living Election where, on 18-3 Arikarin Deram was elected Living King, establishing the 5th Durantum Perikat. The Dar initially fought for Arikarin during the Able War. Arikarin's 481st Dictate was issued on 1-7 593 TT, ordering all kadrike armies to become subservient to the Living Army, this change convinced Arikarin's allies, including the Dar to turn against him. Dar forces were among those that breached the Tumak Ordok on 26-2 591 TT. During the battle for the ordok, Arikarin was ending the Able War and the 5th Durantum Perikat.

1st Lasken Perikat

The Banokan, Bokok, Dar and Lakar formed the 1st Lasken Perikat on 16-8 460 TT with the election of Living King Klaichandoi Lakar.

Balatei Dar was elected Living King on 24-10 387 TT.

Jamai Dar was elected Living King on 2-6 287 TT.

Khodan Dar was elected Living King on 17-10 184 TT.

The 1st Lasken Perikat ended on 15-3 143 TT with the election of Bantu Arkara and the start of the 3rd Agrada Perikat.
