Iron

From Attu Project

Iron is a common metal used in many things. It is mostly found underground and must be mined.

Sources

Iron is found in Akaria, mostly in the Thessda Range.

Iron is found in Utlia, primarily in central Mountange.

Iron is found all throughout Deysachin, most prominantly in Poàs-Dtẽccuy.

Use

Tietero uses irons to flatten and remove wrinkles out of fabric after being laundered or left on the floor too long.

Mining history

Akaria

The first large-scale iron mines in Akaria opened in the Andu kingdoms around 2400 TT and were mostly located in the Thessda Range.

The Weer Nation fought a war of independence from the Andu Kur from 1-1 1790 TT to 6-6 1780 TT. Before this point, the Weer had sourced almost all of their iron from the Andu-run mines in the Thessda Range, though they were still entitled to trade with the Andu Kur, per the terms of the treaty that ended the war, the Oceanic Council though it necessary to establish their own mines. The first of these was established in the Weer Range on 18-6 1780 TT. After the Weer Nation joined the Akarinian Confederation in 1608 TT the Weer-run iron mines became the primary source of the Confederation's iron and the Kingdom of Akaria's after it. During this period many more mines were opened in the Weer Range.

The Andu Kur was subjugated by the Kingdom of Akaria in 1105 TT. For a short while after, the iron mined in the Thessda Range was shipped across Akaria. Bonoi Deram became Living King in 1078 TT and enacted a policy of devastation against the Andu and by the end of his reign few mines remained active in the Thessda Range, bar a few small mines in the Mikare Kadrike.

On 13-6 467 TT the Oceanic Council announced that most of their iron mines had begun to deplete and were expected to be completely out of iron within the next decade. Living King Oirula Dakon issued his 14th Dictate on 17-6 467 TT establishing the Weer Range Surveying Organisation (WRSO) to try and find new sources of iron within the Weer Range. They failed to locate any iron. On 11-11 502 TT Leader of the Lakar, Vichatoi Lakar asked Oirula to make an agreement between the Kingdom of Akaria and the Deram, who lived in the iron-rich Thessda Range. Oirula rejected this proposal because the ruling 2nd Agrada Perikat was not on good terms with the Deram. Oirula died on 19-7 460 TT triggering the 26th Living Election. During the election the ossboschers loyal to the Arkara, Banokan, Bokok, Dar and Lakar supported Klaichandoi as the next Living King. Klaichandoi was formally elected Living King on 16-8 460 TT, creating the 1st Lasken Perikat. A deal was made between Klaichandoi and the Deram on 13-8 454 TT, resulting in five living dictates being issued. The 1st re-established the Deram Kadrike and defined it as taking up around a third of the Thessda Range. The 2nd granted the Deram Kadrike funds to expand the Andu Wall to go around their Kadrike and to remove any remaining Andu from the Kadrike. The 3rd established the Andorka, Goaphe, Karedone and Wyak ossletes within the new Deram Kadrike and permitted them to be run wholly by the Deram for the next one-hundred years. The 4th ordered the Mikare and Perat to act as mediators for the Kingdom of Akaria regarding trade with the Deram. The 5th established a trade deal in which Deram-mined minerals were to be traded to the Weer for Weer-made weapons. To mine enough minerals to meet Akarian demands the Deram began the systematic enslavement of male Andu, who were shipped out to mines throughout the Thessda Range, both in the Deram Kadrike and the Andu Lands.
