Qopi is a city in T'vaqi.

History

Qopi was, at some point, a central territory of the Qoa Lihi that ruled T'vaqi during its First Unification. Scattered records that survived the Qoa Lihi collapse deliberately refer to the area as the ar qop (stone land), meaning Qopi has existed in some form since 1900 TT at the latest. This makes it the oldest settlement in known T'vaqi history, as well as the nation's oldest surviving settlement. It is theorized the mineral value of the Qopi area is what has allowed the settlement to persist for so long.

The ownership of the Qopi area would change hands numerous times over the years that followed the Qoa Lihi collapse. Faction-states in ownership of the territory gradually ceded more and more land over centuries, reducing Qopi to its most essential landmarks. Due to this, the modern city of Qopi has shrunk considerably in size. After the dissolution of faction borders in the Second Unification of T'vaqi, it was agreed that Qopi would be restricted to a perfectly square area of 4 by 4 dodoshi. The city is chiefly known for its abundant natural deposits of coal and copper, and it is included with A'shara as T'vaqi's chief mining cities. Since those who score poorly on the Cognitive Capacity Exam are often relegated to low-level jobs (such as mining), Qopi is populated largely by such individuals. A few Magisterial "stone barons" possess most of the wealth in the city. This has led to the emergence of a social enclave similar to that of Vir Alo, causing a natural distrust of outside settlements to emerge among Qopii citizens.
