Hoshtona is a city in eastern T'vaqi. It borders Lake Sky, the largest body of freshwater in T'vaqi, occupying much of the lake's southern and western coast.
History

Being situated on a navigable source of freshwater, the area surrounding Lake Sky was historically valuable. The land which the city now sits upon was constantly competed for by the Factions of T'vaqi, with control of the region changing hands every few years. It is known that a settlement bordering Lake Sky was once the epicenter of Qoa Lihi rule, making it likely that the area was under complete Qoa Lihi control for the entirety of the First Unification period (c. 3400-1900 TT). After the Qoa Lihi collapse, ownership of the future Hoshtona area again became hotly contested.
Hoshtona was given its current name, a portmanteau of the T'vaqii words for success and water,[1] in 460 TT. This name was given by the Tashimotohiqaroto faction-state, who had obtained swaths of Lake Sky's coast through monetary negotiations with other factions. Lake Sky, which was already one of the most developed areas in T'vaqi, industrialized rapidly under Tashimotohiqaroto control. The settlement saw major population growth, though not on the levels of recently-founded Mholos and Thono.
Through the Second Unification of T'vaqi, the city experienced slow but steady growth; it became a common moving destination for those living in the island's denser cities. The economy of the city remained stable.
Hoshtona is notable for having been barely affected by the T'vaqi Calming in 30 PC. Its economy did not suffer an immediate hit, nor did it grow significantly once trade with other islands began in 53 PC. Generally, the city is described as quiet and tired.
Economy
Hoshtona is known as one of T'vaqi's premier fishing cities, along with N'isi and T'rith. The white muckfish, the source of ink for most heraldry tattoos, is farmed abundantly in Lake Sky. Hoshtona's economy is significantly bolstered by the manufacture of raw building materials; cement and asphalt factories are cooled by lake water.
Emblem
The emblem of Hoshtona depicts an angled metropolitan skyline against Lake Sky, with a fish caught on a hook above. It is generally accepted that the fish depicted is a white muckfish, though there is no specific indication of this, and the local Magisterial government has taken no official stance on the matter.
